Daily Reading 8. Swamiji speaks on thought power and mind management.

Taken from Mother Radha’s notes, written at Swamiji’s feet.
Go directly to your Self. Pythagoras said, ‘Know thyself and be free.’
First be a gentleman. Follow the norms of society. And what is not good, do not express it. Each one is unique. You are a unique facet of that ‘Diamond’ [Atman] – though you are unaware of it. And you give glory to the Diamond.
If I think I am a child of God, a prince, I will become a prince. Thought is a most potent power. Mind is the gateway to this plane of existence. Mind is the gateway to heaven, to hell and to God Consciousness. Do not remove yourself from life, be with life, and do rightly. G-O-D = Generator, Operator, Destroyer.
What is free will? It is forcefully trying to do what is right. You gain strength of mind by using the will to choose right. You should not take too much on yourself, otherwise you will get sick or fed-up [tired, irritable, disillusioned]. If you try to become religious overnight, you will fail. Do it according to what you feel, what you like.
You create your environment here and you [also] create your environment after death. The silkworm becomes a cocoon, then a chrysalis, and then a butterfly. Be like a flower in the heart of God’s vase. Give beauty till you are finished. That energy is not lost.
Crucify the ego to make it pure. That is to say, offer it to God. If you project the ego in a dignified way, it is not malicious. Melt the mind in God’s love. Do it today! Sooner or later you will get fed up and then you will do it. The day you face yourself, you have won!
Anything that holds God from you is not good. Anything that does not hold you from God is good.

These recordings or the excerpts from them, were made from the early 1970s onward, by Mother Radha, a close devotee of Swamiji’s and edited for uploading here by our gurubhai and her son, Brother Tim.
