The endless love for us, of the truly holy.
Swamiji says we should take every opportunity to meet with the Holy Ones. And stresses how they look only for the good in us.
Someone once asked direct disciple of Sri Ramakrishna, Swami Shivananda Mahapurush, for a blessing says Swamiji. What Swamiji goes on to say about his answer and about the love, understanding and forgiveness of the truly holy ones, is deeply comforting and inspiring.
Swamiji shares profound thoughts here about sadhaka [spiritual aspirant] attitude and contemplation. It's worth finding a quiet place and carefully listening to this. It's clear that many of us have limited understanding of the role that the Holy Ones play – and what it took them to get to the place of being able to do that. [Swamiji once said to me, 'If you knew what they had to go through, you would cry and cry and cry.']
We must ask God-men and women God-related questions. Anything else is a waste of time. If you go to a heart-specialist says Swamiji, you ask questions about the heart – not about all sorts of other matters.
Swamiji speaks about Sri Ramakrishna's encounter with the 'Maha-Yogi' Jesus Christ. It's a beautiful story to listen to.
Says Swamiji, 'Even when nailed to the cross, he had no curses.' This is the love for us, from the Great Ones. The Lord Jesus still asked that they be forgiven, because they were ignorant of what they were doing. They were doing what they did 'unknowingly'. And the Holy Ones don't want us to suffer the karmic consequences of such ignorance.
Swamiji wraps up the homily by saying that the Holy Ones want only one outcome for us – and that is, the merit of seeing them. Hear these concluding words yourself. We have no idea of the incredible privilege that we're being granted by their grace.
