Daily Reading 167. Swamiji explains the power of Likhit [written] japa and the activated Kundalini.

Taken from Mother Radha’s notes, written at Swamiji’s feet.
A sannyasin [monk or the female counterpart, sannyasini, nun] knows that everything is God [omnipresence]. God is in the form of man, woman, time, space, friend, enemy, and you too. If you keep reminding yourself of this, you are a great renunciate.
Holy company is very, very good, but you yourself must become holy. Accept the Self in you. Ponder Sri Ramakrishna’s words.
Without patience there is no walking the spiritual path. There is no over-night happiness .
Grow calm, grow loving, grow serene. Know that God does everything. Worship your guru in everyone. The guru never goes away.
Watch without becoming involved. The eyes see? The tongue speaks? The hand moves? It is prakriti [nature] moving them, and you are enjoying it. Before you know this, you are impatient. Go beyond duality. Know that I act in the waking, dream and deep sleep states. Put your head down [i.e. be humble]. Do your dharma [religious or secular duty]. This leads to moksha.
Travel to your own goal. MYOB [Mind Your Own Business]. Feel it when you say it.
Worship Sri Ramakrishna with your whole heart. Repeat his name, be absorbed in his meditation. Do not quarrel with anyone. Think of his teaching. He will take you there. Love [unconditionally] all the children of Sri Ramakrishna, do not expect anything in return.
There will be no peace until the heart and the lips [thought, word and deed] become one.

Swami Vivekananda [chief disciple of Sri Ramakrishna] says that the muladhara [chakra energy centre in the subtle body, located in the approximate physical vicinity of the perineum] is where all residual sensation and motor energy is stored. If a minute portion of this Kundalini [shakti] travels along a nerve fibre, it causes a reaction – for example, a dream, an imagination. Long, intense meditation causes a vast mass [of energy] to travel upwards, and it gives an intense reaction. If it reaches the brain, there is a blaze of illumination.
Rousing this power may come from intense love of God; the mercy of a perfected sage; the power of the analytical will, of philosophy. All worship leads to this. The answer to prayer comes from this.
When anger comes up, see it coming. Watch it. Ask, ‘Am I that anger?’ No! Anger is the mind.
Hope makes the ego dance. It leads to selfishness. Without hope there is no ‘I’. Without ‘I’ there is no need for hope. Hope is in the future. Selfishness is in the past. Fight now, bury the past, live in the present, live for God.
Something is wrong? Then say, ‘O Ma [Divine Mother], change your form.’ You will see, She always answers.
Each one has his own guru, but he gets assistance from many others [click HERE for the different categories of guides, teachers, mentors etc].
Use likhit japa [written symbol or one of the many names attributed to God] . Use anything to aid concentration. Suddenly you will go inside.
[At Yoga camps/spiritual retreats, Swamiji used to encourage us to bring and use school book pages with little squares and carefully, with concentration, write the symbol or holy name, again and again to fill the page/s. At the end of the camp, those pages would be folded into little boats, and with a little ghee diya or lamp in them, would be floated as our prayer, into the lagoon at Tongaat beach.]
All is aimed at that one thing. For example, with the Ishta [chosen ideal or deity], concentrate on it all the time. Suddenly it is not there, it has gone into the formless.
All music is noise. Only when we put a meaning to it, do we like or dislike it. If the Self sings, who listens?

These recordings or the excerpts from them, were made from the early 1970s onward, by Mother Radha, a close devotee of Swamiji’s and edited for uploading here by our gurubhai and her son, Brother Tim.
