[Lord Krishna says] Among thousands of men one perchance strives for perfection; even amongst those successful strivers only one perchance knows Me in essence.
Thousands of people are going to churches, ashrams, and mosques but they may be going there to meet their friends, or to increase their business interests and other things. Out of them one perchance strives for perfection. Only one of those thousands will have the desire to know God.
You can see how many people we get here when there is a big puja [ritual worship ceremony] or at the opening of an ashram, and see how many of them become God-realised.
In Gurudev's [Swami Nischalananda Puri – pictured above, Swamiji's Guru] time they used to come and kiss his feet and roll on the ground. But later the same people kicked him. They were striving to kick and not to realise God. Don't any of you become like that because I am not Gurudev; I will burn you, I swear.
Only one perchance knows Me in essence.
Out of the billions that are marching only one will realise God. And do not think that the thousands of yogis who are in this garb [ochre or gerrua robe] are God-realised – forget it. 'Only one perchance will realise God.' God has no play time to come and play the fool. That is why you have to be so careful. Do not start running about from one guru to another guru. No matter what the guru is, just stick to your sadhana [spiritual practice] and the sadhana itself will carry you through. The idea is that you want to reach God.
