Day 882
Swamiji suggests a meditation for specific people
In meditation, have the Deity [Ishta Deva] with form [dvaita]in your heart [chakra]. Then take It down to other chakras. Take It to the muladhara [base of spine chakra] – this makes you fearless. Then bring It up through the chakras to the crown of the head [sahasrara chakra], then down to the heart and to the form again.
You must first have the attitude: 'Not this, not this' [neti neti]. Then with closed eyes see Him [your personal deity] inside. Later comes the stage when you see Him with open eyes.
Sri Ramakrishna says, 'Ma, Ma [Divine Mother], all is Your grace. I am the machine and Thou art the operator.'
Sometimes there is oneness [advaita] and sometimes duality [dvaita]. You must go beyond duality and non-duality [described by Sri Ramakrishna as Vijnana, knowing both sides of the coin], then you are God-realised. Otherwise you are stuck in duality and non-duality. Many yogis were stuck in that state before Sri Ramakrishna's time.
Through the whole year cultivate one particular spiritual virtue.
Take a resolution: 'I will be a good sadhaka [spiritual aspirant], Lord, I will cling to Your lotus feet. I will take this resolution as worship to Thee.'
Then gradually you go to a higher virtue. For example, 'I will give up jealousy'. And give it up. But do not hate the other person, love them. This is humanly possible. Think like this: Even if God makes me sick, even if God does not fulfill my prayer, I will keep my resolution.
Do it with seriousness; with God's love. Let us fly to God's love.
