Talk Excerpt 255. Swamiji cautions against fault-finding.

From Mother Radha’s notes, written at Swamiji’s feet.
Life is such a glorious thing. Take a day off and think about it. But do it after sadhana [spiritual practise] because that is when the mind is most calm.
The body is complicated. Think of the heart, the lungs, look at the eye, the ear. Is feeling the same in an ant as in a man? Do ants get headaches? Each is glorifying the same Thing – till it comes to the atom. But we do not think. We take things for granted.
The easiest way to progress in spiritual life is to keep the mind pure. Do japa.
Question: Are you saying do japa all the time?
Swamiji: Do it whenever you get the chance. Because He is Infinite, God is not fussy – and we are so small. All religions are only to give you intense yearning for God.
When you think deeply, certain questions arise.
The hair-parting ceremony [a Hindu ritual for an expectant mother] makes the wife feel so loved, so beautiful, like a child.
If you see a fault, it is not there, it is here. Do not pick others out for their mistakes. If 50 people are rogues, why should I care? I must not be a rogue.
Consider yourself a student. Put discipline on yourself.
Self-pity is evil.
