Talks Excerpt 362. Swamiji says: The ego is the biggest obstacle, it conditions all your actions. Curb it.
From Mother Radha’s notes, written at Swamiji’s feet.
‘You open your eyes, Lord, and you see yourself in the flowers and the stones. In the ears, O Lord, you hear your own sound reflected back to you in Om, in swearing, in the screech of brakes and so on. In the skin, O Lord, you feel yourself in the sand, as warmth. You, O Lord, think of yourself in everything. You beat in the heart, you push yourself through the veins. You offer yourself to yourself as the flowers in the shrine. With every action, Lord, you worship yourself.’
All answers come from within, or the guru answers unasked.
When are you going to get tired of all this, the world, fighting and so on?
Anything you do with a motive is not love.
The ego is the biggest obstacle, it conditions all your actions. Curb it.
Think: ‘I desire only God.’ Your only desire is to hold the guru’s feet all the time. Never let go, never weary of it. Then spiritual action takes place.
Why do we fear to die? Because we have a misconception of death. Ask yourself: Can I be born? Can I die? Can I change?
Be patient, go forward step by step. You cannot make God give you realisation, only He decides. He does what He wants.
You easily ask the guru for a mala but are you prepared to pay the price? This is what my guru asked me. It took me three years to realise the meaning of this – that the mala is priceless.
