Talks Excerpt 368. Swamiji: Each verse of the Hanuman Chalisa is a mantra that brings the sages and Hanuman. They touch us lightly on the head but we do not feel it.

From Mother Radha’s notes, written at Swamiji’s feet.
Know yourself.
Hanuman takes you to Rama, the Atman. Each verse [of the Hanuman Chalisa] is a mantra that brings the sages and Hanuman. They touch us lightly on the head but we do not feel it. Why? Because we are not used to being touched on the subtle body. Become aware of this.
Being at the ashram makes you go inside; beyond the senses.
If I pray to God as man, I will be born again as man. If I pray to God as God, I will be born again as God. If I pray to God as Brahman, I will be born again as Brahman.
Pointers for inner purification:
1 Be humbler than a blade of grass. Do not even feel an insult.
2 Be as patient as a tree – there must be no impatience.
3 Do not mind criticism.
4 Respect the sincerity of others.
True humility comes only when you are above worldly judgment, that is, when you feel the presence of God in every instrument.
Do not be timid – then the mind is tremendously transformed.
Every power is a hindrance on the spiritual path. You may have experiences, but do not show them to others. When you find them, just keep quiet – because they are a hindrance on your path and this makes more work for the guru, more sweeping for the guru.
Remember this especially: See God in all – but listen only to one, the Guru. Work – but offer the fruits to God.
