Talks Excerpt 407. Swamiji says: Pray: ‘O Lord, what is good for me, give me that. And what I have that is good for me, preserve that.’

From Mother Radha’s notes, written at Swamiji’s feet.
May Master [Sri Ramakrishna] increase your bhakti [love, devotion], your faith, and your knowledge of God, and give you unflinching belief that there is a God, and that He may be found in our daily life wherever we may be.
May you be blessed this great day. May He be born in your heart this day.
Be polite, be sweet – give, give, give and do not expect anything in return.
As Master says you may hiss [click HERE for that wonderful story] and show anger. Sternness is necessary sometimes, outside. But inside – it is dangerous.
Before, it looked as if Vedanta was only a theory, but Swami Vivekananda made it practical.
We must live it, i.e. see each person as divine. We must transcend group consciousness, colour consciousness and religious consciousness – the soul will manifest through that.
Religion is subjective not objective. If something goes wrong, look at yourself and not at the other person. Nature is a mirror, it reflects man’s mind. But you refuse to listen to nature. You want to do what you want to do.
It is high time to get to simple prayer. For example pray: ‘O Lord, what is good for me, give me that. And what I have that is good for me, preserve that.’

These recordings or the excerpts from them, were made from the early 1970s onward, by Mother Radha, a close devotee of Swamiji’s and edited for uploading here by our gurubhai and her son, Brother Tim. Please be mindful that what Swamiji was saying may have been specific to an individual or a group of people with him, at the time.
