Talks Excerpt 513. Swamiji says: Our thoughts definitely affect other people.

From Mother Radha‘s recordings of Swamiji.
If you are alone in a room and you are very sad or depressed and somebody comes in, they will automatically sense that depression. How does that person come to know without you telling him? Some may say, ‘Well, you just make your mind a blank and whatever that man is thinking will come into your mind.’ But I do not make my mind blank. All the time I am dwelling in God and God’s name.
Even when you prostrate [pranam], I am saying ‘Om aim sarva deva devi swaroopaaya Sri Ramakrishnaaya namah‘, or ‘Om namah Shivaya‘, or ‘Om Kalikayai namah.’ I say these words because that is the deity that you worship, and I feel it come inside me spontaneously. Our thoughts definitely affect other people.
When people used to come to Sri Ramakrishna with fruits and other offerings, he would say, ‘Keep it there [aside].’ They would then put it in the basket behind the door. Master was careful not to eat the offerings of those who brought it with motives that would bind him.
But when Swami Vivekananda would walk in, he would go to the same basket and start eating. So the others would complain to the Master and say, ‘Maharaj, Naren [Swami Vivekananda’s premonastic name] is eating the fruit, but you do not let us eat it.’ ‘Ah,’ Master would say, ‘He is a blazing fire, he can consume anything. Leave him.’ He would not even allow [the premonastic Rakhal] Swami Brahmananda to eat this food.
Sri Ramakrishna said that in his previous birth Swami Brahmananda was one of the gopas with Sri Krishna, and that Swami Vivekananda was a manifestation of the Shiva-power on Earth.
