Talks Excerpt 673. Swamiji says deities are above the pairs of opposites. And cautions against anger and wasting the human birth.

The difference between human beings and the deities is that humans are very choosy. They like this and don’t like that. The deities are above the pairs of opposites. They never say they do not like something.

Women are not supposed to get angry too quickly. Anger can be shown in many different ways. Don’t be angry and demand things. You should not be angry. Husbands too, should speak kind words and try to please their wives. The wives too – in thought, word and deed – should try to please their husbands.

Life is not a game. It is said that we are blessed to have a human body to live on the face of this Earth. Who knows when you will come again? We never know what kind of form we will have after we leave this body. Perhaps you will not have the opportunity to practise what you can practise now as a human being.

[Holy Mother] Sri Sarada Devi’s life was full of trials and tribulations from the beginning. She went through more difficulties than an ordinary wife goes through today; and yet she remained calm. She never became angry.

Sri Ramakrishna said to one of his nephews, ‘If one gets angry with this [meaning himself] one can somehow escape (punishment); but in that body [meaning Sri Sarada Devi] if the power in Her gets angry, then even Brahma, Vishnu and Mahesh cannot save you.’

It was Holy Mother that made our Master great. Holy Mother told him, ‘I have come to help you, not to bring you down.’ He surrendered like a true bhakta to a goddess and said, ‘Look I am your husband, do what you like to me.’ And she, just like a true goddess, thought, ‘Nay, I have manifested myself as vidya maya, not avidya maya. I have come here to uplift you and not to bring you down.’
