Swami Shivapadananda on transformational thinking
SWAMI SHIVAPADANANDA
DAILY READINGS
Taken from Mother Radha's notes, written at Swamiji's feet.
Day 423
Swami Yatiswarananda says in his book, (Meditation and Spiritual Life): Learn to be patient, the world will not change for you.
Swamiji: Pay very, very keen attention to this and make use of it.
Book: Conquer your own doubt consciously. We must have firm faith, true faith. Do not feel jealous of other pious [holy, religious] ones. We must make the best use of time and environment – and be in harmony with the environment. The cause of anger is disharmony within.
Swamiji: Make use of the environment. Do not be restless with the world, this drains away your energy. But be restless to know God. Stop complaining. Instead of complaining, spend that time to realise God. Transformation takes place in the mind. To transform the mind by constant thoughts of the Deity you must read about that Deity. Meditate on that Deity. Take Hanuman for example; read how devoted he was to Rama, how he thrashed Ravana and how he was victorious.
Project your mind – see the sunshine, feel the wind.
You must feel the heat of the sun. Do this for 15 minutes a day and this will uplift you from your own sleep and depression.
But you do not do it.
We say the prayer: Peace, peace, peace – because without that we are not peaceful.
