Swami Shivapadananda on being non-critical

SWAMI SHIVAPADANANDA

DAILY READINGS

Taken from Mother Radha’s
notes, written at Swamiji’s feet.

Day 332

Shiva [the aspect of God that destroys ignorance] belongs to none. His
own soul is Shiva. Chant it continuously.

Understand yourself. Seek and find. You lost yourself, that is why you
are crying. The only siddhi [power] worth having is seeing your own Self within
yourself.

Only selfless love captures God’s heart. Only ‘mine’ and ‘thine’ [yours] binds man to pleasure and pain. i.e. duality.

Only the guru’s power is great enough to awaken spiritual power.

See God in all; you are pervaded by God; He is on all sides.

We pray: ‘Kill the mind, Mahadeva [lit: great god – another name for
Lord Shiva].’

Do not disturb the mind of others, that is a great sacrifice. The more
still you are, the steadier the mind.

Eat with love to gain strength and contentment, so that you can live in
the awareness of the inner God.

True wealth is to love many. Love is God. So chant His name, meditate on
Him, repeat His mantra with love.

Happiness comes from a disciplined life – work, eat, rest. When there is
inner peace and outer calm, all dealings are free from anxiety.

Judging others spoils our blessings. Holy Mother [Sri Sarada Devi, Divine consort of Sri Ramakrishna] said, “If you must find
fault, find it with yourself.” It is ignorance to find fault with others.Of a good man, shout. Of a bad man, never speak. Be like the ocean,
swallow all the hurt.
