Swami Shivapadananda on steps to God
DAILY
READINGS
Taken from Mother Radha’s
notes, written at Swamiji’s feet.
Day 331
Depression is just a cloud, tear it away. When depression comes remember
happier times. When happy times come, hang on to them. Grab hold of the guru’s
leg, he will take you across, nothing can stop you.
There is nothing impure, all is pure.
Devotee: What is the difference between praying once, or often? Swamiji:
It is like coming here one day or every day. What do you get? A little or a
lot?
Obey the guru. Never rest till the Master’s [Sri Ramakrishna‘s/God’s] work is done. Be happy, no
matter what happens.
Before meditation disconnect from the temporary world. Offer it at the
Lord’s feet. We need practice and discrimination. Fill the well drop by drop
each day. Do this for 4 hours, you will be a yogi. Begin at 5 am.
Think how many spiritual rules you’ve broken, how many meditations
you’ve missed and punish yourself. We are lazy, face the truth of yourself.
Take the teachings of the guru and practise them. Become the embodiment of his
teachings. Now you do not speak of him, you are him.
OM [or AUM] namah shivaaya. This is Shiva’s mantra. Shiva is the great redeemer, he does
the guru’s work. Weigh the mantra with the breath. The mantra, the breath and
you are one. There is no separation.
