Talks Excerpt 243. Swamiji says of Holy Mother Sri Sarada Devi: ‘May you know you are on her lap and she is in your heart.’

From Mother Radha’s notes, written at Swamiji’s feet.
When a God-man sleeps he slips into God. It looks like he is sleeping, but he is in God [samadhi].
We do not listen. We only listen to the radio and to our own mind, reciting mundane things, all day and night. We may remain quiet, but judgment goes on all the time. What to do? Instead of listening to the radio or talking, remember the Lord constantly. Everything is divine – salute It all the time.
Sri Sarada Devi said, “Truly I am your Mother. Whenever you are in distress, just say to yourself, ‘I have a Mother.’”
Sri Sarada Devi was love, love, love for every part of her creation. Sri Sarada Devi said, ‘I am the Mother of the virtuous and I am the Mother of the wicked.’
The only thing to do is to accept her and love her personality. You can only do this when you have, or manifest, those qualities.
When someone speaks negatively – think of the Holy Mother. Many came to her, thinking they were sinners. But she only saw saints in disguise and she converted their lives, for higher purposes.
She purified others by cooking and serving them with her own hand. This purified their very intellect.
She comes in all forms. May you know you are on her lap and she is in your heart.
Learn the Hanuman Ashtakam; it is very important.
Remember Sri Ramakrishna’s saying: For God-realisation you need self-exertion.

These recordings or the excerpts from them, were made from the early 1970s onward, by Mother Radha, a close devotee of Swamiji’s and edited for uploading here by our gurubhai and her son, Brother Tim. Please be mindful that what Swamiji was saying may have been specific to an individual or a group of people with him, at the time.
