Talks Excerpt 272. Swamiji says we must move from ‘I’ to ‘Thou’.

From Mother Radha’s notes, written at Swamiji’s feet.
In the Yoga Vasistha we read: ‘This present moment is infinitely more powerful than all the ages gone by.’
The mind must develop as great a sensitivity as the body, which shakes with the pain of a thorn in the foot. When old habits hurt, then they drop away.
Live in the world like an ant – take the sugar and leave the sand – take the Truth and leave the untruth.

God descends [incarnates] as man, that he [man] may ascend to God.
Anger is like a hissing snake – you must kill it.
If you are suspicious of someone, either ignore the change – or, if you are brave enough, go directly to them and ask.
Purity of mind, pure love, makes the saint adored by all.
Om Namah Shivaya – this is a great mantra. Repeat it and reach the highest divinity.
Before it was ‘I’ – but now we want to live in ‘Thou’ [God/the Divine/the Self]
In ignorance it was ‘I’ – but now that we have some knowledge we want to live in ‘Thou’.
Shiva is the great redeemer, in the form of the guru’s words. When you have ultimate knowledge, you realise that the guru and you are One. There is no separation.
Shiva belongs to none. He is your own soul, your very own Self. Chant his mantra constantly. Understand your own Self. Seek and find your own Self.
Yes, you have lost your Self and that is why you are crying. Kneel to your own Self, honour it, chant the mantra. God is dwelling within you. The only siddhi [psychic/supernatural power] worth having is seeing your own Soul within you.

These recordings or the excerpts from them, were made from the early 1970s onward, by Mother Radha, a close devotee of Swamiji’s and edited for uploading here by our gurubhai and her son, Brother Tim.
