Talks Excerpt 292. Swamiji says: Whatever you ask, the guru will give you; so ask big.

From Mother Radha’s notes, written at Swamiji’s feet.
Never be worried. Know that [the Divine] Mother will keep you, protect you, care for you in all ways. Have faith, do not doubt, and be happy always.
The chela [disciple] may doubt, but the guru’s duty is to disperse the darkness of doubt.
Your first guru is your mother, your second guru is your father.
In the chela-guru relationship there must be absolute obedience, absolute surrender. The guru then takes on the job of taking you to the feet of That (God), in this and other lives, until you become one with God.
Whatever you ask, the guru will give you; so ask big. He can give you anything. He does give health and protection after initiation.
The guru begins with external communication and this develops into internal communication.
So pray, then be silent and listen. When the time, place and person are ready, he will give you whatever you seek. He is with you always from initiation onwards.
Only the ego prevents us from observing absolute obedience, absolute surrender. Obedience today is impossible. Why? Because we put conditions on it. This is why we prostrate, because it is good to bend, to obey; to bend the body and will to the guru. Prostrate entirely otherwise it is no good.
Who are the sons of God? Those who are peaceful, kind, gentle, radiant, compassionate, full of truth, beauty, love, light, joy, bliss. What is their function? To spread the message of God, saying, ‘My Father and I are One, follow me and I will show you the Way, for none cometh to the Father but through Me.’ They light the Way, they show the path, the spiritual Truth, they give a helping hand. They are always even-minded, never angry, upset, harassed, jealous or greedy. They always think of others first, they are always in tune with God within, they do HIS will, they are always full of fun and laughter, joy, radiance, rapture, thankfulness.
