Talks Excerpt 356. Swamiji: Bhakti can change the laws of God.

From Mother Radha’s notes, written at Swamiji’s feet.
Bhakti can change the laws of God. For example, if it is written on your palm that you will die tomorrow, and if a bhakta comes along and showers his grace on you, you can live for a thousand years.
There was a man who had no children. Narada came past and the man asked him for the boon of having children. Narada said, ‘Sorry the Shastras say there will be no children for you in this birth, because of the evil karma you did in your previous life. The man did great sadhana but did it with great sadness in his heart. A mad bhakta came along repeating ‘Sitaram, Sitaram’. The man offered him some food and the bhakta asked for roti. He gave him seven of them. The mad bhakta asked the man, ‘Do you want a boon?’ ‘Yes, I want a child.’ ‘You shall have as many children as the rotis eaten by me.’ Narada returned ten years later and saw the man and his seven children and asked, ‘Well, what happened?’ The man told him about the mad bhakta. Narada listened and then said, ‘Yes, he can change the laws of God, for how can God prevail against one who loves Him so much?’
Be like that, open up, love, give. Do it, not to teach others, but to show love.
Bury the past and live in the vibrant present.
Go aside and read the Bhagavad Gita. Then think about it. Thoughts will come to you.
The Guru is the womb where you are conceived. Imagine the birth pangs of the Guru. Think about it. Think how he suffers to give birth to us. Nothing, nothing, nothing, can repay the Guru.
When you see God, you will not see man. But now you see man and can’t see God.
