Talks Excerpt 357. Swamiji says: Every word and deed drives nails into your Guru.
Mantra (Sanskrit):
ॐ त्र्यम्बकं यजामहे सुगन्धिं पुष्टिवर्धनम् ।
उर्वारुकमिव बन्धनान्मृत्योर्मुक्षीय मामृतात् ॥
Transliteration (English):
Om Tryambakam Yajamahe Sugandhim Pushti-Vardhanam
Urvarukamiva Bandhanan Mrityor Mukshiya Maamritat
Meaning:
‘We worship the three-eyed One (Lord Shiva), who is fragrant (in his goodness) and who nourishes all. Like the fruit falls off from the bondage of the stem, may we be liberated from death, from mortality.’
From Mother Radha’s notes, written at Swamiji’s feet.
Jesus the Christ said, ‘My Father and I are one.’
Sri Ramakrishna said, ‘My [Divine] Mother and I are one.’
Meditation is beyond all sadhana.
Without meditation there is no spiritual progress.
In every relationship there must be constant awareness, constant adjustment. To us there is division, but in the Knower [of God or the Self] there is no division.
Especially at these Yoga Camps (spiritual retreats) there must be sincerity. Do not let the world get you.
The true disciple is filled with earnest longing. He is without desire but has faith, perseverance and patience.
Every word and deed drives nails into your Guru.
Who is the Guru? Satchidananda swaroop, your Real Self (the Atman).
In japa the pronunciation is very important.
Use the mantra ‘Om Tryambakam’ for liberation and for the destruction of karma.
As the Guru, if I scold you, you go home and sleep – but I do not sleep for three days.
Say the mantra with your whole being. This awakens That in you which is awake in the great Rishis.
When you repeat the guru mantra, it awakens in you That which gave him liberation.
Think about this.
The problem is, we do not know who we are. We think we do it all, but He does it.
Temptation comes in the form of a sadhu, it is not dressed as a devil. Never forget that. It is very subtle; lust and gold, name and fame.

These recordings or the excerpts from them, were made from the early 1970s onward, by Mother Radha, a close devotee of Swamiji’s and edited for uploading here by our gurubhai and her son, Brother Tim. Please be mindful that what Swamiji was saying may have been specific to an individual or a group of people with him, at the time.
