Talks Excerpt 382. Swamiji explains samadhi – the superconscious state.

From Mother Radha’s notes, written at Swamiji’s feet.
Sadhus always give prasad, they do not take. Always offer the fruit of your sadhana to God, ‘O Lord, you gave me this, now I offer it to you again.’ Do this lovingly. It is very important.
Learn from nature, learn calmness, stillness. Sit and watch the blue sky. Gain concentration. Go to a quiet place for half an hour. Offer all to God; and then go back to work.
The energy is being used, time is passing, the body is dying. But if we think of God we build up the energy. It grows and grows.
A hit [physical or mental blow] from the guru is a great blessing. So few chelas get slaps. It is not really a slap, it is an outpouring of energy. Yet all happens only through his grace.
Lord Krishna says, ‘Fix your mind on Me.’
Jealousy is selfishness and hatred. The only way to progress is to concentrate on God with all your mind.
Be worthy. But this too is His grace.
Saguna samadhi is: meditation on God with form and qualities. [Also referred to as Savikalpa samadhi].
Nirguna samadhi is meditation on God without form, without qualities. [Also referred to as Nirvikalpa samadhi].
Samadhi means being absorbed in God-thought. There are different levels of samadhi. When an individual is merged in the thought of God with form and having qualities – like compassion and forgiveness – it is called Saguna samadhi. If the individual is absorbed in the formless aspect of God having no attributes, it is called Nirguna samadhi. [This was explained by Pravrajika Ishtaprana Mataji – pictured above].
Let this life be lived only to serve the Guru.

These recordings or the excerpts from them, were made from the early 1970s onward, by Mother Radha, a close devotee of Swamiji’s and edited for uploading here by our gurubhai and her son, Brother Tim.
