Talks Excerpt 544. Swamiji says expose children to spiritual life as early as possible.

From Mother Radha’s recordings of Swamiji.
[At the beginning of an Easter Yoga Camp/Spiritual Retreat].
I feel happy to see that somehow the children of Master [Sri Ramakrishna] have learned to inspire themselves. This is a very good sign. When you come to these Yoga Camps you come to know how much you love spiritual life and how much discomfort you can go through.
When you leave this Camp you should notice if you have become any better or any worse than when you came here. Whatever the answer, whatever your experience, you should try your level best either to increase your love for God, or to decrease your attachment to transient [impermanent] things.
I feel that children should be exposed to gatherings like this from a very early age so they naturally grow into their natural environment of spirituality. If they are not exposed to spiritual life, it will become very difficult to make them feel that this is their heritage. This is the one way of life that gives you complete satisfaction. Other ways of life may give you one aspect, but spiritual life gives you a holistic way of life.
It was wonderful that Jesus the Christ made the greatest sacrifice in life, to show that he had ‘birthing’ power, and also ‘deathing’ power. You may be able to take life, but will you be able to give life? The Lord can take your life and yet give you life; or take it away for good.
You must do japa till it vibrates in every part of you. You must be saturated. But nobody here does that. You can tell by the eyes.

These recordings or the excerpts from them, were made from the early 1970s onward, by Mother Radha, a close devotee of Swamiji’s and edited for uploading here by our gurubhai and her son, Brother Tim. Please be mindful that what Swamiji was saying may have been specific to an individual or a group of people with him, at the time.
