Tantric power and protection

Day 902
A devotee of Sri Ramakrishna was living far in the south of India. It appears that this man was afraid of a Tantric [a spiritual path making use of ritual worship and occult powers] worshipper who had some supernatural powers. Every day Master's devotee would irritate the other man and make him angry. But every night [that same] Master's devotee would sit down and pray to Sri Ramakrishna. Each morning he would get up and he would start the cycle again. And in the evening, he would sit down and pray to Sri Ramakrishna. This went on for a couple of years. Then he came to visit Holy Mother [Sri Sarada Devi, the wife, nun-consort of Sri Ramakrishna] in Calcutta [now reverted to Kolkata]. She said to him, 'You must stop it. You must stop irritating other people. You think Sri Ramakrishna has nothing else to do but sit down and protect you?' Only then did he come to know that Sri Ramakrishna was protecting him even from this black magic man.
So do not underestimate Sri Ramakrishna. He is the wish-fulfilling root itself. The wish-fulfilling tree can dry up and lose power. But this is the root that gives power to those trees, branches and leaves.
Can Sri Ramakrishna provide you with wealth? Holy Mother's reply to this was: 'Don't you see that all the [Ramakrishna Math and Mission] Mission Centres, the Maths and the devotees that rely on Sri Ramakrishna are progressing?'
Today, one of the richest organisations in India is the Mission itself. Do you know how it came about? Holy Mother said about this, 'One day I sat and prayed to Master, 'Those are your children, your sannyasin [monastic, renunciate, Swami] sons. They have no shelter, no place to sleep. Please give them a place where they can stay'. This is how these great [Ramakrishna] Maths [monasteries] and Mission [service] Centres have sprung up; and how the devotees have made progress.
