Sri Ramakrishna was such a wonderful scientist that he tapped the positive side of anyone who came to him. Thus he made Latu Maharaj [later Swami Adbhutananda] into a great sannyasi [monk, renunciate], a God-realised man. Latu Maharaj could not write [a letter of] the alphabet or even pronounce it, yet he was made into a great sannyasi.

Another example is Girish [Chandra Ghosh – the famous Bengali playwright – pictured above]. He was a worse sinner than Valmiki [author of the Hindu epic, the Ramayana] himself. Girish used to visit houses of ill repute but Sri Ramakrishna was that kind of a spiritual scientist that he tapped the love in him. Girish was one of those who recognised that Sri Ramakrishna was God incarnate. Today he is remembered and worshipped side by side with Sri Ramakrishna in many homes.

At one time Mathur Babu [son in law of the Rani Rasmani, founder of the Kali Temple at Dakshineswar], thinking that he would perhaps tempt Sri Ramakrishna down to the worldly sense level, sent a public woman to Sri Ramakrishna's room. But when Sri Ramakrishna opened his eyes and saw this naked woman standing there he shouted, 'Ma, Ma, Ma [calling on and seeing her only as the Divine Mother],' and fell into samadhi [superconsciousness]. Thereafter that public women's life was transformed and changed into that of a great bhakta [devotee].

Everyone that is seated here has certain beautiful qualities, and if tapped, if lovingly brought out with care, all can be worshippers of that great God.

Make a garland of talents and let it be a garland that is offered to Sri Ramakrishna. That name 'Sri Ramakrishna' itself should be beautified.

I hope and pray that the people that are heads of the ashrams [service monasteries] tap these qualities. No child should be told that he is better than the others. Nobody is best. All are Master's [Sri Ramakrishna's] children. And all the children have certain good qualities. Just tap them and they will come out.

The people who are here at yoga camp are all blessed people. They are brought here because Master chose them to be here. They did not come here because their parents brought them here. They were chosen – the parents themselves were chosen. You are really chosen ones at his feet. May you all awake to this consciousness that you have something unique to offer to the Lord. Do it now – not later on. Hari Om Tat Sat
