Swami Shivapadanandaji talks about us ‘giving’ to God.
The theme in this post is about the privilege and joy that we have to 'give something to God.' Swamiji says the difficulty is that since God is everything and has given us everything, what can we give, when it's God's already? It's a real conundrum.
But then Swamiji tells a story that explains what we can give, with what mindset, and how we can give it. He goes on to bring it 'home' to our own spiritual family or Guruparampara by telling a true story about Swami Shivananda Mahapurush (pictured) – a direct disciple of Sri Ramakrishna. It's transformational for our understanding, so that we have the right attitude when 'giving' anything, but particularly when offering to God.
There's also a gentle but memorable lesson about our attachment to what we offer the holy ones.
Swamiji concludes by telling the story of Andal a renowned Vaishnava saint, known for her profound devotion to Lord Vishnu.

The original audio recordings of these posts were made by close Ramakrishna Centre of South Africa and Swami Shivapadananda devotee, Mother Radha. The audio editing and noise reduction of the original 1970s tapes has been lovingly crafted, over many years, by her son and our gurubhai, Brother Tim. May Sri Ramakrishna and Swamiji bless them both.
