Talks Excerpt 326. Swamiji says: In bhakti there is only devotion, you only want God.

From Mother Radha’s notes, written at Swamiji’s feet.
It is a tragedy when the guru leaves the body. So prepare now. God is always living. Do not get attached to the body. If I want to speak to my guru, I just speak with him. Get used to doing this while he is still living, so you become qualified to have him inside you, and to hold him there.
The guru must not make you a slave, he must make you a master, in every sense. You cannot be a master unless you hold him inside you. So look within and see only God. Then you will feel God, you will understand God. Then when you go outside you will be fearless.
In bhakti there is only devotion, you only want God – the lover and the beloved become One. Then who will love whom? Bhakti is the means and the end. It is the root and the fruit of the tree of the Spirit. Go into the heart, hold God’s leg, twist it, make Him give. Knock. You must go within.
God-realisation must come first, then you can help others. We need solitude and meditation. Do you understand? If you know this and do not practice it, it is a sin.
Be a witness of happiness and sadness etc. Watch – do not be affected.
Say to your self: ‘The eyes see, but I am the Spirit. The feet walk, but I am the Spirit.’ Detach yourself from body-consciousness. Body-consciousness is ego. Have faith and devotion. Use the name of God. A bhakta sees the ego as God’s servant.
Repeat Om 21 times, with the tone rising and getting louder and louder, and end between the eyebrows. Kundalini? No. God? Yes. Let it travel with the Om vibration, feel it.
Know that: Now is only this instant and only God exists.
