Day 913
Do not say words that hurt. Be very kind to one another. Then people will think, 'Oh, they are associated with Swamiji, how nice.'
You must do sadhana [spiritual practice] sincerely. You must have no depression. If it comes you must think: 'I am Swamiji's child. You have come to tempt me. Get out.' Do not react to bad things. You must slowly take depression out. It will not happen overnight.
I get very disappointed when people who were associated with me, behave in a bad way.
The swamis [Hindu monks, sannyasis] never made the ashram [the Ramakrishna Centre of South Africa monastery, hermitage, spiritual service-centre, pictured above], Master [Sri Ramakrishna] did. They do not make the ashram something, the ashram makes them. Everything belongs to Master. We are only caretakers. I mean it sincerely. It is not humility, it is truth.
I am not great, I am not learned, but I know one thing in my heart: The Master loves me.
The knife must lose some metal to help others. Similarly you must sacrifice something.
Only Master's children take visitors first to their [home] shrines.
