Talks Excerpt 261. Swamiji says: Have faith that you are saints and sages. What you think you become.

From Mother Radha’s notes, written at Swamiji’s feet.
Words are useless. Just be That.
In deep sleep I am That, in samadhi I am That. Words cannot express it, and the mind cannot think it. When I am awake I know I am That.
The eyes see, but they do not see themselves. The spectacles may say, ‘I see.’ But the spectacles do not see.
Japa takes our thoughts Godwards all the time. This is its function and nothing else. Images take us Godwards all the time. That is their function and nothing else.
The Shivalinga indicates: This is God as One, Purusha. And resting on God in many forms is Prakriti.
Who is a Yogi? One who has equal vision. He sees friend, foe and so on, all as One. He sees God in all.
Fault-finding is not godly. Clean up your own backyard first. See there are no flies there.
Have faith that you are saints and sages. What you think you become. If you think you are a sinner you become one. You must have no doubts. Just serve, serve, serve and become unselfish.
Make a list of your bad qualities and concentrate on improving one of them per week.
Watch the bad quality arise. Selfishness, stealing, lying (in thought, word or deed). All these are common examples.
Do japa, go inside, work, worship.
