Talks Excerpt 370. Swamiji: Hanumanji was an Incarnation of Lord Shiva.

[Swamiji giving basic spiritual advice to a devotee]:
Be still with the Guru seated inside. Sit, do not think of anything. Sit for a long time, you do not have to repeat any mantra.
Hanumanji tore open his heart at last. Who was inside? Sri Rama.
Hanumanji was an Incarnation of Lord Shiva. To get Sri Rama you must first worship Hanumanji, Lord Shiva. Put your head and heart on His feet.
Yes, the guru has partiality, seemingly. For some people, some times, he gives what he can. They take it or leave it. Many waste it. He cannot help them. He must go on, not turning back to see who fell by the wayside.
Always remember that it is your guru who does it through you. Will you remember that?
Even the gods, Brahma, Vishnu and Mahesh have to prostrate to my Divine Mother. They cannot even lift a finger without Her. But you do not know how soft Her lap is. She resides in the heart of Her devotees, and She chops ignorance with Her sword, until the final liberation. Sitting on Her lap, how can you forget Her? How?
Sri Ramakrishna said to the Divine Mother, ‘Now become Gopala.’ And straight away She dropped Her sword and picked up the flute. [This refers to a song sung by Master, Sri Ramakrishna].
Do not get attached to going to Vashishta Guha [the cave occupied by Swami Purushottamananda Puri – sannyas guru to our Gurudev, Swami Nischalananda Puri], and other places of pilgrimage] etc. Go deep inside, then the outside does not matter.
If I go deep inside then I must give off great peace outside.
If you dip a pen in perfume and then take it out, it is still fragrant.
The guru leaves no root unturned in getting rid of egos.
When the senses take you away from God, think: ‘I am Spirit – all is God,’ and see how you feel in three months.
Jesus the Christ said, ‘Be still and know that I am God.’
