Swamiji on the power of Sri Ramakrishna’s picture. Talk excerpts 169.

From Mother Radha’s notes, written at Swamiji’s feet.
Ignore people’s faults – look at their good points. If you can do this at the time of insult and hate, you are making yourself fit to have the darshan [vision] of the Lord.
If you pray sincerely, He must come.
God is almighty so I must be humble before His might, before His truthfulness.
Selfless service purifies you.
Master’s ability to remain in silence, without thought, is a very important, very difficult part of sadhana.
Disease of the body does not matter, but disease of the mind if not cured, goes on to the next birth. A doctor can’t cure you, only grace.
Surrender is when you give everything to God and realise.
Become a mouni – be the silent witness outside and inside.
Only God does selfless seva [service]. We do it to become perfect.
If you think there’s a problem, witness it.
Sri Ramakrishna’s photo, where he is in samadhi, is the nearest thing to his image. If he was conscious of Consciousness and the photo was taken, you must get realisation from that. The photo is very important.
Meditate with the eyes open. Look at Master’s [Sri Ramakrishna’s] photo. Then close the eyes and look at the form inside. Keep doing this. It leads to concentration.
If you worship the formless, think the form is there to one side.
The mantra changes every cell of the body. It changes the tuning [vibration] of the body.
