Talks Excerpt 220. Swamiji says this Earth is the best level to take birth in.

When you preach it is to purify yourself. You are not selling something. Do you want me to sell my Divine Mother in public?
We read in the Upanishads [ancient Hindu scriptures]: May Brahman not deny me. In our ignorance we, and especially atheists, may think that God accepts or rejects. Or since He is the Supreme Brahman that He can deny me. Then we read: May I not deny Brahman.
Birth is an opportunity given by God to us to do our dharma. Then we pave a path for the future, for higher states of life.
There are 7 planes of consciousness. They are bhur, bhuva, swaha, maha, jana, tapa, satyam. This Earth is the best level to take birth in. In other planes of consciousness you use up your merits, or pay for your de-merits. Here on Earth you have the opportunity to accumulate merits by doing good.
The scriptures say that the body is the fittest instrument to know who you are. And when you know who you are, you will know who God is.
Pythagoras said, ‘Know thyself and be free.’ You are more than you appear to be, you are Spirit, soul.
How do you know you are God? Only by one thing: Consciousness is God. All Consciousness comes from God – but i-consciousness [consciousness of the lower ‘self’] creates another being – the ego.
No sooner we know who God is, we become a blessing to the whole universe.
While in the body you can realise God. In the body you realise God slowly. From here you can go to heaven. But do not waste this opportunity, this human birth.
